Farm to Table Experiences

West Manitoulin offers fantastic farm-to-table experiences where visitors can indulge in fresh, locally sources food. Some ways to experience this includes:

1. Farm Visits: Many farms on West Manitoulin open their doors to offer farm fresh products. Many will share their sustainable agricultural practices with their visitors. Visit the Island Food Map developed by New Grain Bread and Manitoulinmedia.ca 

2. Farmers’ Markets: West Manitoulin hosts some of the best Farmers’ Markets on Manitoulin Island. Kagawong is the largest Farmers’ Market on the Island. It draws visitors from near and far. The Gore Bay Street Market is a growing market located on the Main Street of the Downtown Core. The street is closed during the Friday Markets and is a great complement to the existing businesses located in this area. The Sheshegwaning First Nation Farmers’ Market is a great market that has also been growing in size since its inception. 3. Farm to Table Restaurants: Many of our local restaurants on West Manitoulin prioritize using locally sourced ingredients in their dishes. These establishments offer menus featuring fresh produce and meats from nearby farms and fisheries, providing a true taste of Manitoulin’s culinary delights.
