Gore Bay

Gore Bay is a bustling waterfront community with a population of 900.  It is the "judicial seat"  for Manitoulin Island, winning a referendum in the 1880's to become the "District" Town, sometimes referred to as the "capital" by locals.  The Manitoulin District Courthouse, Sheriff's office, and the Provincial Offence office are located in Gore Bay.  

Community Information

There is plenty to see and do in Gore Bay.  It is the service centre for Western Manitoulin.  It has a vibrant downtown business core which meets all your service needs.  The waterfront also boasts a beautiful marina, known as one of the best in the North Channel.  You can charter a boat at Canadian Yacht Charters (CYC).   Along the waterfront, you will find the Gore Bay Recreation Park, home to a Splash Pad; Tennis Courts; Basketball Courts; Soccer Field; Playground; Picnic areas; E bike rentals; The Harbour Centre, filled with local artisan shops and Split Rail Brewery and Finnia Chocolate.  For a full list of business refer to our Local Business Directory.  

Local Events

Gore Bay Harbour Days is the Main Event in Gore Bay.  Held annually on the 4th weekend of July.  It is a fun filled family event during the day and a rocking good time in the evenings.   For more information check out the Local Events Listing.
